Officially 501(c)3!!!!!!!

Friday we received the IRS letter confirming Arboretum Detroit’s 501(c)3 Non-profit status!

We are now ready to take tax deductable donations via checks written to Arboretum Detroit.

All funds at this point go toward Treetroit 1, the Pilot Arboretum, to be located in the Poletown neighborhood. Check out arbdetroit.org for details on this project.

The first trees for Treetroit 1, the Pilot Arboretum, will be planted at the Earth Day Celebration hosted by Breathe Free and Arboretum Detroit, on Saturday, April 20th. Stay tuned for more on this later!

501(c)3 status updates

As you can see, donating to Arb Detroit is not enabled yet. We are a month into the application approval process for our 501(c)3 status, which will make it possible for your donation dollars to be tax deductible.

This doesn’t mean that we are not yet a non-profit. Our Articles of incorporation and Bylaws were submitted in 2018, and we have regular board meetings. We are seeking grants and volunteers, building the website and working on outreach, and generally are very excited to talk about trees.

Please reach out with any questions, concerns, support or ideas for connections to the arboretum via the contact page.
