Fungi lives in your backyard, let’s uncover it! The Backyard Mushrooms workshop is a beginner friendly course introducing fungi identification techniques of common backyard mushrooms as well as easy to grow techniques for growing edible mushrooms in your own garden.

Hongo x Hongo’s Ame (she/her) began developing a conscious relationship with fungi in 2016. After her first experiences foraging, she became captivated by the transformative and interconnected world of fungi. Since then, she has used mycology as both a lens and a tool for understanding the world around her.

In 2017, while traveling, Ame cultivated her first mushroom grow block. A few years later, she began mushroom farming at her Dansville homestead, Hongo X Hongo. Deeply committed to creating a cultural shift in mushroom consumption and fostering deeper connections to fungi, her work centers on introducing people of color to the culinary and ecological possibilities of mushrooms.
