Now that nettles have begun the process of seeding, the winter work of making nettle fiber can begin.

Join Jo as they walk us through processing nettle fiber! We will forage for nettles, prepare them in the green, and make cordage.

We will also have some pre-retted nettles, which we will learn to strip to reveal the fine nettle bast fibers within!

If you don’t like being stung (some folks believe that's a part of the process), wear long sleeves and bring gloves. We cut the nettle out rather than pulling it, so please bring garden shears or scissors. If you have a drop spindle and want to try spinning on it, please bring it with you. If not, we will learn how to spin on sticks as well!

Everyone will go home with their very own lock of nettle fiber, and some cordage!
